About a year ago I become an avid reader of the Reader's Digest and have since enjoyed the heartfelt stories, health advice, corny jokes, and the tid bits of miscelleneous information. In the April of 2011 issue I stumbled upon an article on "How to Write an Ethical Will." It explains how most of us have considered writing our traditional will, which we all know only records the property and material possessions we leave behind, as well as who we choose to inherit the "wealth." More importantly, however, we should all consider writing an ethical will which records our life lessons, dreams, and goals. This information is invaluable to our loved ones and is a way of expressing what is meaningful to us. It is imperative to recognize that we are not remembered by how much money we make or the material possessions we acquire, but instead by the legacy we leave behind and how we choose to live our lives.
On July 11th, 2011 I will embark on a new adventure across the country. For 16 years I have been dreaming about going back to San Diego and now it is finally happening! I will be attending the University of San Diego to earn a Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership and I cannot wait to be learning with eager minds in a classroom once again. In addition, I will undertake a professional experience as the graduate assistant for the Center for Student Success. With the excitement and challenges that lie ahead, I figured there is no better time than now to start documenting my ethical will. And so it begins...
